Working Bee Time

The wind has blown lots of leaves and branches from the trees and bushes to the ground. The tracks are littered with cabbage leaves that initiated the working bee.
Sandra asked for the leaf rakes and it brought Zac and Mason together to rake the leaves to clear the pathways. Being involved in the 'real work' captures children's interest and brings them together to work alongside. Zac and Mason had to work carefully with their rakes to rake it into one pile but it was perfect way to see them connecting to get to know one another. Kia kaha te mahi! You are working hard!

Zac G was working with Sandra who exclaimed, 'We are having a working bee!" And wanting to share his excitement he continued to inform me, "Look Louise, We are raking up all the leaves!"
It was quite a big task and the tama love taking on huge tasks, in fact the bigger the better! They feel motivated to take on big challenges!
